Friday Favorites #2

In home decor

I want this beautiful mirrored art by Kate Spade hanging in my bedroom ASAP. It reminds me of a fantastic shirt Taylor Swift wore back in October that I loved. Just gimme both, thanks.

In fashion

The Oscars happened on Sunday and with it came lots of beautiful gowns. I especially loved this Calvin Klein photo set of the making of Lupita Nyong’o’s one-of-a-kind, pearl dress. Isn’t she lovely?

In television

My favorite show, “Park and Recreation,” had its series finale this week. It was everything I could have hoped for. Thank you for everything, Pawnee.

In articles

sc-xojaneI clicked on this xoJane article entitled “I Let My Boyfriend Dress Me For a Week” fully intent on hating it. (I do that sometimes, because I am a glutton for punishment, apparently.) But I actually really enjoyed it. It reminded me: it’s okay to have fun wish fashion and that I’m in dire need of both a leopard-print cardigan and some black ankle boots. I especially loved this part, which I felt I could relate to:

Fashion allows me to explain who I actually am without saying a thing. Lately I’ve been forgetting to do that. I haven’t been feeling very comfortable with my body because of a busy schedule and a sedentary desk job, and I’ve been anxious over pending important life decisions. As a result, I’ve been very safe in what I’ve been choosing to wear. There have been a lot of the same blacks, grays, and button-ups in my life. I’ve been looking like someone trying her hardest to have Good Taste.

In internet

Of course, I’m really, really pumped about that whole net neutrality thing, but what I’m most intrigued by is this dress. This fucking dress. Is it white and gold, or blue and black? (Here’s the science behind it.)
