Things I Wore (and Did) in September 2017

September makes me think of new beginnings. For that reason, the month brings me comfort.

I kicked off this month with a visit from my mom, who was in from California. It was so nice to see her, though hard to say goodbye! With her and my grandma, Bill and I visited my little brother in Boston. We wanted to see his new place (beautiful) and also to see him because we don’t get to see him enough. It was a fun day in the city and he was an awesome host.

In September, I also spent time with friends eating good food and drinking wine (obviously), for which I was grateful. Bill and I visited the Big E—him for work, and me to watch him work. The Big E is a giant fair with tons of food and it’s essentially mandatory for everyone in the Connecticut/Western Massachusetts area to attend at least once every year. We did and, for the first time ever, we watched a burger-eating competition. The winner ate 52 burgers in 10 MINUTES. It was so gross and I don’t ever want to watch it again, but what an experience, right? (Fun fact: I was once in a buffalo wing eating competition for charity! Our team lost.)

And, of course, Bill and I visited DragCon NYC and spend the weekend in New York.

Here are some of the outfits I wore.

Things I Wore (and Did) in August 2017

Sometimes life goes by faster than you realize and, before you know it, it’s mid-September and you haven’t posted your August outfits yet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In truth, August is not one of my favorite months, as by then, summer has gone on a touch too long for me. I get tired of the heat and find myself getting antsy for some cooler weather. Also, politically, life is a real shit show right now, so I’m just trying to make it through.

Work-wise, August was a busy month, a month in which I started to really sink my teeth in at my new job and lead my first big project. It was exciting, terrifying, stressful, and rewarding, and I’m glad to have done it.

Bill and I had a few adventures, too, the most notable being our wonderful weekend getaway with our dog, Obi! We also ate some delicious food (as we always do), celebrated our two year anniversary in our beautiful home, and made the most of the rest of our summer. Independently, I met up with my old colleagues and enjoyed the incredible solar eclipse that reminded me that it’s important to look around and appreciate the world around you every now and then.

Here are some of the things I wore and did, in photos!

I became obsessed with these dresses in August, so much so that I ended up with three of them in different colors. This hot pink, Barbie-inspired dress is so flattering and easy to wear. I love it!

Outfits of December

Sadly, I didn’t take many outfit photos throughout December. After a rough few weeks at work, I wasn’t up to dressing very cute and opted instead for dressing simply. In the new year, hopefully that changes! Here are a few things I did wear.

What I wore while in New York City…

img_4582

This has quickly become one of my staple outfits. It’s simple but cute and very easy to wear.

While in New York, my grandma, husband, and cousin had a traditional tourist day, spending time in Times Square, stopping by the Disney and Hershey stores, and visiting Rockefeller Center to see the tree.

What I wore while having drinks with friends…

img_4766

I wore this outfit not once but twice to meet up with friends and drink.

From event one:

And event two:

Aren’t we cute? I love these ladies!

I also wore my Forever 21 red wrap dress to meet up with my bestie, Steph, but I forgot to snap a photo. 😦 Here we are being adorable with Santa, though.

What I wore to my office holiday party…

img_4833I’m living for these news booties I got from Payless as well as this gorgeous sweater dress my grandma surprised me with!

  • Dress: Old Navy
  • Tights: We Love Colors

What I wore to celebrate Christmas…

img_4900

It’s my first-ever ugly sweater!

And, my incredible gifts from my incredible husband. (Not pictured: a trip to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, coming in spring, and a bracelet!)

Hope your December was fab and fashionable.

Outfits of November

November was a trying month. It started with the election of Donald Trump, which I am still stunned by, and it ended with some messy, difficult work stuff that really impacted my morale.

But there were some bright spots: a friend who made me a gift to cheer me up; a fun Thanksgiving featuring Cards Against Humanity; the return of “Gilmore Girls”; good friends and coworkers and family; a perfect dog and husband; an invitation back to my alma mater to speak to a class about journalism; the Christmas season.

Here’s what I wore (clearly jeans + boots were my thang).

Last October was excellent, but this has been the best October ever. Not only did I get to honeymoon with my husband, we also got to celebrate Halloween with an incredible weekend at the historic Deerfield Inn for dinner and a spooky ghost tour around Northampton, Mass. October is the best month of the year, guys.

Here’s what I wore!

Outfits of the Month: August

I did it. I tried a romper.

And, I didn’t hate it. I actually thought it was kind of cute!

FullSizeRender(1)

I wore it to a morning at Starbucks working on some writing (cliche), but I felt cute and kind of adventurous in it, especially after months of admiring rompers on other women and secretly coveting one of my own.

Outfit details

  • Romper: Forever 21
  • Shoes (not pictured): Old Navy

IMG_1135

Me, excited about the romper situation!

IMG_1552

Outfit details

  • Dress: Fashion to Figure
  • Shoes: DSW

IMG_1747

Umm, how amazing are these galaxy leggings? These are another item I’ve been coveting forever, but I would never find any that both fit me and were affordable. I found these totally by mistake on a random trip to Walmart. They cost $3.

Outfit details

  • Shirt: Old Navy
  • Leggings: Walmart

IMG_1670

I’m obsessed with these wrap dresses from Forever 21. I got it both in olive, and in red (see below). They’re comfortable and chic and my new favorite dresses.

Outfit details (for both)

  • Dress: Forever 21
  • Shoes: Payless

Just bought three more dresses from F21 since I’ve had such good luck with them lately. #treatyoself

Fingers crossed that I’ll take some more outfit pics in September than I did in August!

Outfits of July 2016

July has been a busy month so far. My husband and I have been keeping busy each weekend with things to do. We’re actively trying to make the most of our time by getting out and doing more (at least when we feel like it!). We’ve recently taken a day trip to the beach; saw “Ghostbusters” (which I LOVED!); ate delicious food at the New England Food Truck Festival; spent time with my parents before they moved to California; and visited an art show.

Here are a few things I’ve worn this month. (Spoiler alert: I’ve become a walking Old Navy billboard.)

Let’s start with this nail polish. Not an outfit, technically, but I did wear it.

IMG_0895How amazing is this nail polish?! It’s Rose Gold Holographic Nail Polish from I Love Nail Polish (ILNP).

july-1

I wore this to my parents’ going away party as they prepared to move across the country to California. (They’re currently about halfway there!)

My little brother, my dad, my mom, and me. <3

  • Jeans: Old Navy
  • Shoes: Payless/Old Navy (Payless flats in the first pic; flip flops from ON in the second)

Outfit details

  • Dress: Old Navy
  • Cardigan: Old Navy
  • Shoes: Payless

And, I wore this to go get much-needed and much-deserved drinks with friend from work. On a Monday.

july-3b

july-4

Outfit details

  • Dress: Old Navy
  • Cardigan: Old Navy

I also wore my R2D2 dress from Disney to an art show… where I met this dog! Not really an outfit pic, more of an excuse to show off my new friends, Frankie.

The best part about getting cardigans and dresses from Old Navy is that they match perfectly.

Outfit details

  • Dress: CowCow via Amazon.com
  • Cardigan: Old Navy
  • Shoes: DSW (These are Sanuk shoes, made from yoga mats, and they’re incredibly comfortable, even though they may not be the cutest.)

Outfit details

  • Dress: CowCow via Amazon.com

Still yearning to take better outfit pics, but maybe it’s time I accept it’ll never happen. 😉

Until next month!
